Escape #1

OK, so, we have declared enough is enough on weekend DIY. That is now confined to week day evenings that we finish work in time for (or, in my case at the moment, encourage from afar!).

So - we escaped to Herefordshire this weekend... to purchase the wedding present... a success all round, though it was diffcult to coax Rob away from the 101 DIY jobs that need doing into the rain filled depths of Herefordshire...

New toy on trusty Focus...

 Red wine in the tent...

Our tent & the River Wye in the background

Our fancy water boiling system on it's first use...

Don't let this decieve you - this was the view out of the tent this morning after raining ALL NIGHT. ALL NIGHT. Not kidding. No 'major' leaks though...

Enjoying morning coffee & lack of rain...

The view all the way home...

Definitely the first of many adventures... next time we might even put the canoe in the water (!!) - the River Wye was crazy high and very fast - so we thought ourselves unprepared for that. What didn't help was that on the way to the pub we helped the campsite / canoe people pull out 5 x alimunium canoes and 1 x barrel of some dudes kit. We also watched 3 x paddles float by. The guy who stuff it was (i think one of the lucky ones, as that's the only barrel of apparently 4 that we saw) was approximately 4 miles up stream... errr.... OK. :-)

Hence this (Petersfield lake!):

Update: Project #30

There is no update.... we have not done anything! Instead we've been doing this:

Update: Project #30

And let there be water.....

Update: Project #30

OK - small victory here.... tap & waste on, bath sealed at the back... next stop water back on...

Update: Project #30

Er, so, the vistors are due in 4 days. This is what the floor looks like. Oh - and after Rob spent a good 3 or 4 hours cutting out the flooring to fit, the packs we got were "defective" and wouldn't clip together. Brilliant. So we currently don't have any flooring.... It will arrive Tuesday. The vistors are due Thursday. Gearing up for a busy week. :-S

Oh and....

... an update to our new addition to the conservatory? Well... this says most of it...

Needless to say our "self watering" devices did not self water at all. All the leaves bar 6 dropped off and we were pretty much convinced it was dead - BUT - it has just sprung back to life and new leaves are starting to grow... i think that pretty much limits our chances of getting any real lemons out of it this year though. Boooo.

Project #32 - Keeping up with the neighbours...

Don't want to be the only one without hanging baskets... This year (a sad sign of being a grown up) it cost a bargain £7 (for both) due to already having baskets, compost, trowel, gloves & nothing to do on a bank holiday weekend but take advantage of 15% off plants at Homebase...

Update: Project #30

12 hours later....

Stupid camera phone is not doing it justice... i miss my canon G9. :-(

Wide angle with the GoPro...

Update: Project #30

Another wall up and a visit from Charlie to help plaster the ceiling...

Then - in defeat - Rob agreed to get someone who knows what they are doing in to tile it. Stories of people taking weeks to tile their first bathroom have been bouncing round my head since Tuesday... knowing that we had just two weeks (minus all the other things we need to get done before 16th June)....

So far...
:-)
